Dr Jake Mitra, president of the Federation of Australian Buddhist Councils (FABC) was invited to Kirribilli House on 16 June 2016 by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. It was the first time an Australian PM hosted an iftar Ramadan dinner at the PM's Official Residence. The other Buddhist representative at the event was the Zen priest Watanabe of Sydney. Jake Mitra who opted for a dinner of fish and vegetables invited PM Turnbull to be the first PM to visit an Australian Buddhist temple. While in Sydney Jake Mitra also met up with Asst Minister of Multicultural Interests Craig Laundy. Our Hon. Sec. and Past President Mr Kim Hollow met with Labour Sen Claire Moore in Brisbane on 25 Jun 2015.
