Statement by the Buddhist Council of WA on 30 June 2016:

“The management committee of the Buddhist Council of WA are dismayed at the act of hatred against the Muslim community of Thornlie yesterday night.

Grievances should be aired frankly in our democratic society so that real or perceived threats and inequalities can be resolved with the best outcomes for all sides.

Violence is not the Australian way. Speaking at the right time in a straight-forward and upright way is the Buddhist way to conflict resolution. All Australians have a role in neutralising terrorism in all its forms here and abroad. “
